media release
People of India can be saved from the dangers of tsunami through disaster warning by installing CCTV cameras in the Light House situated in the south end of The Andaman Islands and vigilantly watching whether tsunami is generated in the ocean.

The Andaman Islands are situated a thousand kilometers away from the eastern part of India and to the west of Indonesian Islands.
Hence, when tsunami waves are generated in the Indonesian region, these tsunamis spread and strike the southern part Andaman Islands first, before they reach India.
For example, the tsunami which shook the entire South Asia on 26.12.2004 too, after it washed the southernmost point of the Andaman Islands known as Indira Point, traveled in the ocean for one and a half hours before striking the eastern part of India.
Hence, it is possible to know whether tsunami is approaching by installing CCTV cameras in the Light House situated in Indira Point at the southernmost point of The Andaman Islands and having a watch over the sea.
Specifically, by a systematic surveillance of the sea through the CCTV cameras, we will be able to know whether there is tsunami threat when earthquakes occur in Indonesia.
When there is an approaching tsunami, the people may be saved from tsunami threat by issuing suitable tsunami warning in the eastern region of India.
This is not an expensive or time-consuming exercise. This is a simple task which can be completed within a day if the government so decides.
