At present, deep-ocean tsunami detection buoys floated in the ocean are frequently stolen.
They also go out of service. Hence, the countries situated in the Indian Ocean region are unable to issue a strong tsunami warning to the people living in these countries.
Moreover, when earthquakes occur in the Indian Ocean region, difficulties are faced in determining instantly whether these earthquakes are capable of generating tsunamis.
At this point, I have a simple solution to save the people from the threat of tsunami, who are living in the coastal areas of the countries of Myanmar, Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka situated in the areas surrounding the Indian Ocean, by alerting them in real- time half an hour to one hour prior to the occurrence of tsunami.
Tsunami threat to the countries surrounding the Indian Ocean is specifically caused by the occurrence of earthquakes in the western region of Sumatra and Java Islands of Indonesia.
Under these circumstances, since Andaman Islands are situated to the north of Sumatra Island, the tsunami waves generated in the western region of Sumatra and Java Islands strike the southernmost end of the Andaman Islands in half an hour. Then they strike countries of Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka.
For example, the south Asian tsunami which shook the entire South Asia on 26.12.2004 also struck the north western region of Sumatra just in ten minutes and then hit the Indira Point after half an hour.
Later, after one hour, it struck Myanmar and Malaysia. One and a half hours later it struck Thailand. Following this sequence, it struck Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka.
Hence, by installing CCTV cameras in the in the Light House at Indira Point, the southernmost end of the Andaman Islands, and by carefully monitoring the ocean for any approaching tsunami waves, the people living in the coastal areas of these countries may be saved from the disaster of tsunami by alerting the above mentioned countries about the approaching tsunami half an hour to one hour prior to its occurrence when strong earthquakes occur in the western region of Sumatra and Java Islands.
